Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk-rock as well as alternative rock, but it includes influences from hip hop, punk and jazz. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement. She was one of the first musicians to launch her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23 1970 the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had made acquaintance while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian descent, and her mother comes from Montreal. Ani diFranco wrote and sang the track 32 Flavors. The track comes from her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio release. The song is featured in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized after it was revealed that she would be hosting 3 days of workshops at an old Louisiana slave farm. The event was cancelled however, she did not express any regret.
